Coherent (COHR) disclosed its quarterly results through an SEC 8-K Item 2.02 filing. The optics and laser components maker also released investor presentation materials in a separate Item 7.01 filing submitted the same day. AI chip company Cerebras Systems (CBRS) and semiconductor firm Alpha and Omega Semiconductor (AOSL) also reported earnings that day. Large food distributor Performance Food Group (PFGC) and video infrastructure company Harmonic (HLIT) likewise filed quarterly results.
In pharma and biotech, Annexon (ANNX), Altimmune (ALT), Kura Oncology (KURA), Talphera (TLPH), Armata Pharmaceuticals (ARMP), First Tracks BioTherapeutics (TRAX), Azitra (AZTR), QT Imaging Holdings (QTI), Interpace Biosciences (IDXG), and Lumexa Imaging Holdings (LMRI) each released quarterly results. In energy and small caps, mortgage REIT Ellington Credit (EARN), natural gas services firm Natural Gas Services Group (NGS), solar company SUNation Energy (SUNE), and real estate developer New Concept Energy (GBR) reported results. Aircraft hangar operator SkyHarbour Group said it turned cash-flow positive alongside its earnings release, with Investing.com noting its second-quarter results beat market expectations. By contrast, Forward Industries (FWDI) saw its shares swing after third-quarter results missed expectations, Investing.com reported. Also filing earnings that day were Capstone Holding (CAPS), Data I/O (DAIO), GameSquare Holdings (GAME), and Hyperion DeFi (HYPD).
Earnings Surprises and Guidance
Investing.com reported a mixed bag among today's earnings filers. Network security firm Allot posted second-quarter profit above market expectations and raised its guidance, while nuclear reactor components maker NANO Nuclear Energy topped third-quarter EPS estimates, lifting its shares slightly. By contrast, document management software firm Intellinetics saw its shares fall after second-quarter results missed expectations.
Battery maker Enovix saw its shares slip in after-hours trading despite beating second-quarter estimates, while clinical diagnostics firm Cera Prognostics fell short of expectations despite revenue growth, Investing.com reported. Space tourism company Virgin Galactic narrowed its second-quarter loss, though revenue missed expectations.
There were also cases of shares surging after earnings. Pharmaceutical company Omeros jumped 20% after beating second-quarter estimates, while documentary streaming service CuriosityStream rose 21% on strong results, Investing.com reported. Biotech firm Dyadic International's shares fell 16% despite revenue beating expectations, while charter jet company flyExclusive and watch brand Fossil each saw share-price volatility or raised their annual outlook on strong revenue.
According to 24/7 Wall St., strong AI-related earnings released the previous day sent AMD, Intel, and Nvidia shares all sharply higher, lifting investor sentiment across the semiconductor sector as a whole.
